What Is CLO2 and How Does It Work?

Chlorine Dioxide (aka: CLO2) is a yellow-green gas with an odor similar to chlorine. Because it’s a gas, chlorine dioxide has outstanding transfer properties that allow for deeper penetration and sterilization capabilities. Chlorine dioxide has been recognized as a deodorizer and disinfectant since the early 1900’s and has been approved by the EPA and FDA for many applications. Chlorine dioxide has proven effective against a wide range of organisms and is also effective as an anti-inflammatory, bactericidal, fungicidal, virucidal agent, and best of all for the outdoor world… a deodorizer.

Perhaps you’re thinking, doesn’t chlorine dioxide have ‘chlorine’ in its name? Yes, but its characteristics are very different. Just like carbon dioxide is different from basic carbon, chlorine dioxide is different from the chlorine you put in your pool or use in your laundry. CLO2 acts as an oxidizing agent and reacts with several cellular components, including the cell membrane of microbes. By “stealing” electrons from them (aka: oxidation), it breaks their molecular bonds, resulting in the death of the organism by the breakup of the cell. By changing the proteins involved in the structure of microorganisms, their enzymatic function is broken, and it causes a very rapid elimination rate to odor causing bacteria and organic compounds. On top of this, while CLO2 is eliminating odors it is at the same time leaving behind a safe, non-toxic salt. This means it’s very safe-to-use, very effective in odor elimination, and very effective as a cover scent.

Dead Scent does everything we just mentioned in a controlled release system. The Dead Scent gas (CLO2) will penetrate any porous material or surface to eliminate odors, bacteria, mold, mildew, and dangerous pathogens. This means your hunting clothing is the perfect platform for CLO2 to do its thing. Dead Scent is a scientifically advanced and innovative product that deodorizes your clothing without the need for harmful chemicals, fragrances, or manual efforts. Oh yeah, you don’t need electricity either.
